How fortunate we in coworking are to have the Global Coworking Unconference Conference (GCUC).

GCUC brings the human aspects of coworking front and center while serving up the industry’s movers and shakers to share their insights, experience and stories.

Add a community of space operators and industry service providers and you have something extraordinary—a treasure trove of connection, information and inspiration.

The biggest challenge is taking it all in then implementing your takeaways in your own space. How do you retain all that information and inspiration and share it with your community?

Make the Most of GCUC Canada with the Women Who Cowork Retreat

This year, the stars have aligned for women in the coworking world. Women Who Cowork and GCUC Canada, which has a reputation for being unwaveringly focused on community, connection and furthering the coworking movement, have partnered to create an event that promises to be one for the books. We’re going to Banff in Alberta, Canada, for a Women Who Cowork Retreat, followed by GCUC Canada.

If you want to arrive at GCUC Canada ready to participate, learn, share, connect and absorb all the information and insights, there is no better way than with a mind-clearing, heart-opening and grounding Women Who Cowork retreat.

Benefits of a Retreat

Retreats help us refocus, decompress, connect with ourselves and others, and slow down the fast-paced work/life many of us have. Retreating gives us a chance to renew our energy and recalibrate our baseline from one of overwhelm and urgency to one of calm clarity.

We can’t create more hours in a day, but we can increase our energy.

As an Energy Project article explains, “Like time, energy is finite; but unlike time, it is renewable. Taking more time off is counterintuitive for most of us. The idea is also at odds with the prevailing work ethic in most companies, where downtime is typically viewed as time wasted.”

Downtime prevents burnout and contributes to personal wellness and professional performance. A 2006 study done by accounting firm Ernst & Young found that for every additional 10 hours of vacation time an employee took, their performance ratings improved by 8 percent.

Work/Life Perfection

Retreating in Banff with Women Who Cowork before going to GCUC Canada promises to be work/life perfection.

If you’re a coworking conference regular but are unfamiliar with retreat, here are five more reasons a retreat is good for your business:

  1. You need perspective to keep your business moving forward.
  2. Sitting and thinking is work, even if it looks like goofing off.
  3. You can connect with professionals with a range of skills.
  4. You don’t know what you don’t know—and sometimes you need other people to help you see things differently.
  5. It’s an investment in your business.
